What! A! Season!
I have been following the Bearcats for many games this season, and I’ve been constantly impressed with their play this season. These young men have worked so hard at shutting down their opponents. They have a press that shut down every opponent that they met. They had stamina – they constantly wore down the opponents through 3 quarters and by the 4th quarter they still looked fresh while the other team was sucking wind. They just shut down their opponents and dominated all season.
That made me feel so confident as I drove to the Asheboro area to watch them play in the State Championship this past week. I knew Farmville Central was going to be trouble. That team had dominated their season just like the Bearcats had. But they hadn’t seen a defense like what Hendersonville would bring to the table. They had the height, talent, and I am sure they beat their opponents before the game even started with their above-the-rim play.
And I was still confident that our mountain boys could compete.
I was not wrong. The Bearcats played solid ball. They hit their shots. They were able to slow down the offense. And they scored 98 points in this incredible game. 98 points. And, sadly, lost. They played the best game I’ve seen them play all season, against by far the best team they had seen all season. And they should be proud of their performance, despite the loss.
With 2 minutes left, I sat beside the bench and listened to Coach Featherstone rally his boys. Listening to him, I was 100% convinced that they would come out on top. The players believed. They kept playing. They kept scrapping. I was, and am, so proud of them.
Of course, I am disappointed for them. They worked so hard and it is tough to come in second. However, they played great ball all season, and they played out-of-this-world ball in this final game. They did themselves, Hendersonville High, and all of Henderson County proud.
I am building several Memory Books of this historic ride. These are 40-page custom books devoted to your favorite athlete and his team. I would love to create one for you. What a wonderful keepsake it will be for him to look at with his children. These are the best ways to get the best images I’ve taken of the team. Send me a message to have me create your Memory Book today.
I am booking Senior Portraits for this Spring. From Sports Portraits to Fishing, I’d love to create a portrait session that shows you doing what you love. Let’s talk about the perfect session today!
