West Henderson High School hosted the 2018 Falcon Frenzy Wrestling tournament was held this weekend. The annual event saw representation from all the Henderson County schools. There were also schools from Buncombe County, Brevard County, and all across Western North Carolina and East Tennessee. And the wrestlers were among the best across the region: the finals were dominated by defending State Champions and many others who had made it to the states. This was a great fundraiser for West Henderson Wrestling, and it looked like everyone had a great time.
I was able to capture a bunch of pics of the JV tournament and the Varsity Finals. It was fun seeing the large West Henderson student section cheer on Baynard and Musser as they competed for the championship of their weight classes. Congratulations to Alex Baynard for winning his match; Jeremiah Musser wrestled hard but came up just short of the top of the podium.
North Henderson High, Hendersonville High, and East Henderson High Schools also had wrestlers competing for weight-class championships, and several area schools took home the gold medals. Congratulations to all these athletes as they competed hard and represented our community with class.

I’m excited about this season as I learn this sport and watch this talented group of young men and women grow! If you haven’t seen photos from the McDowell meet, check them out here.
