I enjoyed spending the afternoon watching the 2018 King Apple Parade with the family today. This year was extra special as I was able to watch my oldest daughter, Claire, lead the West Henderson Marching Band as Drum Major. Of course, she did a great job, and it was probably the best band to ever participate in the parade in decades! (Yes, Proud Dad here!)
The day was marred a bit by an irresponsible drone owner who managed to crash his drone into the crowd, cutting one lady’s leg up pretty bad. (This unscrupulous character grabbed his drone and left in a hurry, leaving a stunned crowd.) Remember: Drones should not be flown over people! She was hurt pretty bad, and there were lots of kids around. Those kids would have been seriously hurt if they had been a foot or so closer. Be smart, people!
Back to the festivities, I took photos of almost every float and group in the parade. You can see many of these images of local organizations and youth programs below. There were high school students from North Henderson High School, East Henderson High School, West Henderson High School, and Hendersonville High School participating and showcasing their talents and interests! So glad I was able to see them!
